On Saturday, Feb. 1, the NBA insiders announced the shocking news that the Mavericks were planning on sending Luka Doncic and others to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis. This news left the whole sports community shocked.

Maverick, also known as Mav, fans have been left heartbroken and are expressing this through protests. At only 25-years-old Doncic is one of the best players in the league.

“Nobody seems to know why it happened or what Dallas is getting from it, all they know is that from pretty much every conceivable angle, it's a one-sided trade that doesn't make any sense,” Reddit user said.

It was not until the next morning that the official Mavericks announced this trade. Mavs fans are still trying to wrap their heads around the trade that just happened. People were absolutely shocked because other teams in the league would have traded so much more for him.

Many rumors are going around about why this even happened in the first place. One unconfirmed reason is that Luka was starting to get bigger and would do better as a defence.

“This has to be a joke right? Luka being an overwatch 2 top 500 player is wild, but trading him for AD? No way this is real,”  user @Danynsh said on X, formally known as Twitter.

He was loved by many Mav fans. This news came out of nowhere and reports say that no players or managers were involved in the discussion. Many are shocked by this because it doesn't make sense for the Mavericks to do this since they had one of the most gifted stars in the league.

Luka was the main reason the Mavs made it to the finals and for them to just trade him for nothing didn't seem fair to many. Fans have made it obvious how disappointed they are in this trade.
